It’s been an exciting start to the year for Seesaw Media, the industry’s leading prop and product placement agency. With appearances in the gripping thriller ‘Luther,’ multi-award-winning comedy ‘Catastrophe,’ popular irreverent sit-com ‘Cuckoo’ and the game of cat and mouse that is ‘Hunted’, Seesaw’s clients have already been seen by an audience of over 20 million television viewers in January alone with over 100 minutes of on-screen time.
Seesaw’s success isn’t limited to the small screen and 2019 shaping up to be a big year for Seesaw’s clients at the cinema too. With the Golden Globes, Oscars and BAFTAs revealing the nominations for this year’s awards, Seesaw’s clients have appeared in films that have a combined 12 award nominations between them, including the Damian Chazelle Neil Armstrong biopic ‘The First Man’ and Rosamund Pike’s incredible performance as photo-journalist Marie Colvin in the forthcoming ‘A Private War,” scheduled for release on February 14th.
2018 was a great year at the box office, with the UK reporting to have the highest box office admissions since 1970 with 177 million admissions. The US cinema industry also grew 7.4% with 1.3 billion tickets sold. Darryl Collis, Director of Seesaw, says “Distributors were waiting to see what effect the likes of Netflix and Amazon would have on the box office. With 2018 being the third success year-on-year increase in audience attendance, it just proves that both can co-exist and that, while audiences like the on-demand offering SVOD provides, nothing beats the experience of watching a film on the big screen”.
Looking ahead at the release schedule for the coming year it seems that 2019 is on target to beat 2018’s box office record, with such films as ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ J. J. Abrams’ long-awaited ninth Star Wars film, Will Smith’s ‘Gemini Man’, Disney’s live action ‘The Lion King‘ and their avalanche that is ‘Frozen 2’.
